일본이 24일 오후 1시께부터(이하 현지시간) 후쿠시마 제1원자력발전소 오염수의 해양 방출을 개시했다. 2011년 3월 11일 동일본 대지진으로 후쿠시마 원전 사고가 발생한 지 약 12년 반 만이다. 일본 정부는 매일 460톤씩 17일간 희석된 오염수를 흘려보내는 것을 시작으로 최대 130여만톤에 이르는 저장된 오염수를 30년에 걸쳐 방류한다는 계획이다. 사진은 후쿠시마 제1원자력 발전소 외부 전경.
