117년 전통의 국내 최고 야외 음악 축제 시카고 ‘라비니아 페스티벌’ 2021 시즌이 시작됐다. 주최측은 16일 오전 9시부터 라비니아 웹사이트(https://www.ravinia.org/)를 통해 티켓 예매를 시작한다고 밝혔다. 올해 축제는 7월1일~9월 26일까지 이어지고, 총 76명의 음악가들이 등장한다.
특히 올해 축제엔 신인 음악가로 ▲8월 19일 Counting Crows, ▲8월 25일 Marie Osmond with special guest David Archuleta ▲8월 26일 Allison Russell opens for Lake Street Dive ▲9월 3일 Lady A ▲9월 4일 The Roots ▲9월 5·6일 John Legend, with opener The War and Treaty ▲9월 19일 Max Weinberg’s Jukebox ▲9월 23일 Frank Orrall (of Thievery Corporation) ▲9월 25일 Ms. Lauryn Hill 등이 출연한다.
작년 페스티벌은 코로나19 팬데믹으로 인해 취소됐으며, 이는 대공황 이래 처음이다. 올해 행사는 프로그램이 축소 운영되고, 쉬는 시간이 없으며, 야외에서 제한된 정원으로 실시된다. 또 티켓은 미리 예약해야 하며, 착석엔 사회적 거리가 적용된다. 한편 페스티벌 참가자들은 행사 기간 내 행사 티켓으로 유니온퍼시픽노스라인(Union Pacific North Line)을 무료로 이용 가능하다.
